ABOUT

Liberty Development Foundation (LIDEFO) is a civil society organization established in the year 2002 and registered with the Government of Uganda under registration number 120931, to support practices that accelerate the progress of human development with a view to eradicate poverty and extreme hunger through sustainable growth in Kasese District. The role of this organization is to economically empower people and offer quality services that enhance income-generating activities for sustainable rural livelihoods. LIDEFO supports practices that accelerate the progress of human development through sustainable beekeeping & honey processing, training & education, environmental protection and micro enterprise development.    

Central to the human development approach is the concept of human empowerment, which, in addition to income, treats access to education and health care, respect for diversity, protection from violence, and the preservation of the environment as essential dimensions of human development and well-being at the community and household level.

The organization is solely run by volunteers. This means that all LIDEFO’s technical support, advocacy, and contributions are to strengthening coherence in rural and urban development must be aimed at one end result: real improvements in people’s lives and in the alternatives and opportunities open to them.

Liberty Development Foundation (LIDEFO) was founded in the year 2002, with three program areas which include Learning & Training, Beekeeping and Honey processing, Micro-Enterprise development and Environmental Protection. 

The Liberty College of Management & Journalism was established in the year 2004, to unlock the potentials of our people, improving their lives through training & education; empowering them as individuals with skills that will improve and strengthen participatory development. While the beekeeping program was developed to support practices that accelerate the progress of human development with a view to eradicate poverty moving people from subsistence farming to beekeeping as a business. 

Mission

To promote a realistic, innovative environment and operate a college that offers skills training and education, promoting beekeeping, micro enterprise development for women and youth, enhancing positive transformation that increases household income, cross cultural integrity and respect.

Goals

1.     To offer training and education that enriches and empowers the life of an individual and strengthens communities. 

2.     To mobilize resources for institutional capacity building. 

3.     To promote accessibility and use of information, communication technology.

4.     To promote health and environmental protection.

5.     To impart vocational and professional skills for improved living standards. 

6.     To improve on the rural standard of education to match with national level.

7.     To become the best beekeeping and honey processing enterprise. 

People

Daniel Ngangasi II – Managing Director /Founder LIDEFO Uganda 

A communications and management specialist, with skills in engaging policy makers, community groups and other stakeholders drawing their attention to pertinent issues/concerns of development nature through dialogue and consultations. Capable of providing leadership and programming skills to Civil Society Organisations on how to effectively implement the National Strategic Plans, policies; and other international declarations.

Muhindo Grace - Co – Founder of LIDEFO and holds a Diploma in marketing and business management. Grace follows closely the work of beekeeping, honey processing and marketing 

Muhindo Tony Harold - Chairperson Board. Muhindo Tony Harold a Professional Teacher and holds a Diploma in Education, Bachelors degree in Science; Worked with the Ministry of Education for 9 years as a teacher, delivered education programs development work at levels of direct program implementation and management. Has supported the establishment, capacity building, strengthening and managing partnerships for the education programs in different areas of the country;

Harold has championed programs for youth education and empowerment, primary/basic education and secondary education.

Currently,Harold  is working for PEAS Uganda as the Regional Program Manager - Western Uganda. Other organizations worked for include: Christian Child Fund (now Child Fund), Save the Children Norway, Save the Children in Uganda, Save the Children International and Oxfam
 
Mr. Kibaba Lodric  - Board member.  Mr. Kibaba Lodric holds a Diploma in project planning and marketing, currently working as the director of Twins Wing College
